An invitation to explore the ACC Library Park!
Would you like to explore the ACC Library Park with me?
To me libraries have always been places where I could think and work. Here in Gwangju, I have done that at ACC Library Park so I would like to invite people to explore part of the ACC book collection with me. I’m inviting people to play a simple game of chance so that we can discover books at this library together!
To take part please look at the table below and then
1. Pick a NUMBER, a LETTER and a STAR.
For example: 30, B, 40

Drawing Club
2012, upon moving to Lisbon, Portugal, one of my first projects was to begin a workshop series at a local school that I called Clube do desenho (Drawing Club). This club took place every week in the library at the local public school where I lived. The club offered a class of pre-teens that believed they were ‘not good at drawing’ the chance to explore drawing techniques and concepts through fun and stereotype challenging activities. This project has taken place from 2014 to May 2019 and has been a chance for both the different participants and I to explore drawing and library spaces as a tool for gathering and exploring forms of play and research. It has been a constitutive part of my practice and has led me to additional self-initiated activities at libraries and art centers.
I was invited in 2014 to set up a drawing club for teenagers at a state school library in Lisbon, as a volunteer. As I had no funds, I used low-cost objects to produce games and tools to draw with. Wool yarns were our main drawing material. Besides paper, I used my mobile phone to produce stop motions animations with the club’s participants.
Rules for participating in the Drawing Club: "It's not allowed treating your partner, your drawing, and your Library. It is allowed is to treat everything and everyone with affection. "It is not allowed comparing your drawing to that of the other. What counts is to focus on your drawing. - It's not allowed saying "I can not" It is allowed is to draw. - It is not allowed miss classes. What matters is always coming and willing to create new things.
